Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus around the world, Twitter users have been using the hashtag #Togetherapart to describe their situation and a Tweet involving a balcony filled Italian flash mob got quite a bit of attention recently.

Ivanka Trump decided to get in on the action by sharing a picture of her playing with her family in a makeshift “living room camp out” and encouraged others to “share your ideas & use the hashtag #TogetherApart”

Ilhan Omar apparently got wind of the tweet and used her influence on the platform to slam President Trump and advocate for illegal immigrant families that he has “forcefully separated.” She encouraged users to “share your ideas on how you plan to unite them.”

Many took that as a cue to trash Ivanka and her father instead. One “mom of three” said, “I have an idea that will bring your family close together but it involves a judge, a jury, and some very sturdy bars. #TogetherApart“

On the other side, Catholic Priest Fr. Frank Pavone suggested that it was time for Omar to “leave office” and “that will be a great benefit to our country.”

This morning, Omar tried to distract from her divisive rhetoric by asking, “What are you doing to help your neighbors and loved ones right now? What have others done for you?” She then offered a suggestion and hashtag of her own, “Let’s share the ways our communities are lifting us up with #CommunityImpact2020.”
