Kathy Griffin’s Account Restricted, Tried to Fool Voters by Changing her Twitter name to Elon Musk and Telling People to Vote Blue

UPDATE: Kathy Griffin has been suspended from Twitter for impersonating Elon Musk

Kathy Griffin isn’t fooling anyone, but she has decided to join in with others and change her Twitter name to Elon Musk and upload Musk’s profile picture.

Griffin then shared a series of tweets pretending to be Twitter owner Elon Musk:

“After much spirited discussion with the females in my life, I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right. (They’re also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen

“I must admit, when the Republicans come for our birth control, I’m going to have more kids than even I can handle! So for my daughters and girlfriends…#VoteBlueToProtectWomen

“This Beto guys is pretty cool, after all. Greg Abbott does not want to legalize cannabis. Beto likes weed! #voteblue

“Hey complainers and activists. Want to see real activism? Watch this. RT w #VoteBlue

Her desperate attempt at causing discourse or just to get some attention has worked. If you go to her account you are met with a warning:

“Caution: This account is temporarily restricted”. It continues, “You’re seeing this warningin because there has been some unusual activity from this account. Do you still want to view it?” You are then met with a button that gives you the option to proceed to view the account.

It seems Griffin wanted in on some of the attention $8 blue check complainers are getting. Maybe this is her idea of comedy… it’s hard to tell.

Griffin seems to despise Republicans and had done things she thinks are funny to grab attention. Her most notable “joke” was to hold a rubber head of former President Donald Trump with fake blood around the bottom and a knife in her hand making it appear that she decapitated him.

Musk has previously said that accounts impersonating others would be suspended, however as Griffin is a comedian and it is obvious what she is doing the warning may be all we see.

Musk announced that “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended. Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.”

Many other verified Twitter accounts have been changing their screen name to Elon Musk and pulling the same sort of stunt. Musk has made it clear now that if it is a parody and is noted the account will be safe if not it will be suspended.
