Lauren Boebert Compares Joe Biden’s FBI Raid of Project Veritas to Media Claims That ‘Trump Was Attacking the Press’

We reported on Saturday that Joe Biden’s FBI raided the homes of at least two members of the conservative group Project Veritas including its founder James O’Keefe.

The raid has been categorized as being part of a federal investigation into the “stolen” diary of Biden’s daughter, Ashley Biden.

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert cried foul at the situation in a tweet and made a point that is sure to resonate with conservatives where she compared it to media claims about former President Donald Trump.

Boebert said, “Joe Biden’s FBI is raiding the homes of investigative journalists, but tell me again how President Trump was attacking the press.”

A recent New York Post editorial pointed out that journalists can’t be prosecuted for publishing stolen material unless they were part of the theft and the theft in question hardly seems to rise to a federal crime.

Additionally, shield laws normally mean law enforcement can’t make reporters reveal a thing about their sources, even if they didn’t publish anything, they noted.

Journalists regularly publish material that has been leaked or even taken, such as the New York Times running Trump’s tax returns, so unless the feds know something about Project Veritas sanctioning the burglary, the diary does not warrant pre-dawn raids and it has all the marks of a political vendetta, the editorial continued.

The editorial concluded that it’s not at all a good look for a Biden Justice Department already in ill repute for intimidating parents who just ask questions at school board meetings.

Prior to last year’s election, a report suggested that Trump and his administration’s attack on the press “dangerously undermined truth and consensus in a deeply divided country.”

Ultimately, however, the report failed to show where Trump or anyone in his administration ever weaponized a part of the government to harass and intimidate even a single journalist in this sort of manner.
