Liberals Cry Foul After Congressman Jamaal Bowman Arrested By Capitol Police While Protesting For ‘Voting Rights’

The arrest today by the Capitol Police of U.S. House Rep Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) during a “voting rights” protest has some liberals crying foul.

According to Bowman’s spokesperson, “Today, Congressman Jamaal Bowman joined a voting rights non-violent direct action at the North Barricade of the U.S. Capitol Building and was arrested by the U.S. Capitol Police.”

In a tweet, the Capitol Police reported that “Just before 12:00 pm, demonstrators started blocking one side of the North Barricade outside the U.S. Capitol. We have already issued them three warnings. The demonstrators refused to move out of the driveway, so we are making arrests.”

“We made a total of 27 arrests for Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding (DC Code § 22–1307), and one for violating U.S. Capitol Police Traffic Regulation Section 16.3 (Crowd Control). The demonstration activity is all clear,” they added in the tweet.

In response, Twitter user Chris Kennedy suggested, “you wouldn’t arrest them if they were white.”

Another Twitter user told them, “You couldn’t be bothered when thousands of white people violently attacked the Capitol to overthrow the United States government but a handful of Black folk peacefully protesting for their right to vote is untenable.”

“You don’t have to tell me who you are, I see you. #LetUsVote,” that Twitter user claimed.

One Twitter user attempted to thank them, but were lectured by another who said, “This is an unconstitutional arrest, I wouldn’t be thanking them if you like freedom and police accountability.”

On a tweet by MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin reporting Bowman’s arrest, liberals offered more of the same, comparing the situation with Jan. 6.

“Just so I understand, Rep Bowman is arrested by Capital Police for a peaceful protest, but the folks who violently stormed the Capital on Jan 6, beat Capital Police and threatened Congress with violence were not arrested. Not a single person was arrested that day,” Twitter user Renee J Nietubyc complained.

Of course, it isn’t likely any of the offenders will spend any time in jail and if the past is any indication, they will likely receive simply a $50 fine and be on their way.
