Mask-Wearing Staff at the U.S. Capitol Remove MTG’s ‘COVID Checkpoint Charlie’ Protest of Pelosi’s Mask Mandate

Earlier, we reported that U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) tweeted a video at the U.S. Capitol of her at what she referred to as a “COVID Checkpoint Charlie,” dividing the Senate and House floors.

In a subsequent tweet, Greene showed mask-wearing staff removing the dividers that she had put in place to protest the mask mandate that was re-instated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

“Democrats really hate walls. Especially my COVID border checkpoint,” Greene said in the tweet. It is unclear if Pelosi ordered the removal or not.

U.S. House Rep Jeff Duncan (R-SC) noticed Greene’s barrier prior to its removal and tweeted out a picture of it.

“The magical and miraculous rope that keeps the virus from traveling from one chamber to the next,” Duncan mocked in the tweet.

Earlier, we reported:

Today, Greene tweeted a video where she mocked the mandate by setting up a “COVID Checkpoint Charlie,” which consisted of a rope and stanchion.

Greene had two individuals, one man and one woman wearing masks, stand on one side while she whispered to them from the other side that “Hey, over here, there’s no COVID, where you won’t get arrested if you take your mask off, would you like to come in?”

Gesturing to the side they were standing on, Greene pointed out, “Okay, that’s the House side, where Nancy Pelosi will have you arrested.”

“This is the Senate side,” Greene noted, gesturing to her side as she pulled the rope back so they could enter, which they did and removed their masks.

Someone can also be heard asking, “Seriously?” It is unclear who said that, however.

Checkpoint Charlie was the most famous crossing point between East and West Germany at the Berlin Wall that served as a designated a crossing point for members of the Allied armed forces.

U.S. House Rep Brian Mast (R-FL) also tweeted out against Pelosi’s mask mandates today.

“Speaker Pelosi is out of control. She will stop at nothing to keep absolute power, even if it means arresting the American people who dare to question her anti-science, big government mandates,” Mast stated.
