Michigan Gov. Whitmer Accuses Trump of Putting ‘Lives in Danger’ With His Rhetoric: ‘It Needs to Stop’

President Trump spoke earlier today at a rally in Muskegon County, Michigan which is in the middle of the state on the shores of Lake Michigan and a county that Trump lost by less than 1,000 votes in 2016.

At one point in the rally, the president said, “You’ve gotta get your governor to open up your state” – referring to Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

He continued, “Get your schools open, get your schools open, your schools have to be open, right?” At that point, the crowd begins to chant, “Lock her up.”

Trump asked, chuckling “Lock her up?” Then he said “lock em all up” as the crowd goes wild.

Whitmer, who was recently a target in an alleged plot against her, harshly condemned Trump’s words and the chant.

“This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family, and other government officials’ lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans. It needs to stop,” she tweeted.

It could also be argued that her reaction also could be cause to incitement, which was evident with some of the responses. Climatologist Brian McNoldy claimed, “He must be removed ASAP (like this week). This is deadly serious.”

“Travel Influencer” Johnny Jet replied, “Don’t worry, Gretch. We’re going to be locking him up next year. #LockHimUp

Feminist Amy Siskind apologized and said, “Unforgivable. So sorry governor. He is an unhinged madman.”

Trump recently had an alleged attempt on his life made by a woman in the form of a letter that contained ricin in an effort to stop his re-election.
