MSNBC ‘Cuts Costs’ by Naming Stephanie Ruhle as Brian Williams’ Replacement and Adding Another Hour to ‘Morning Joe’ Amid Ratings Decline

Amid a decline in ratings, MSNBC has announced a cost-cutting move by adding another hour to “Morning Joe” and by naming Stephanie Ruhle as disgraced liberal Brian Williams’ “11th Hour” replacement.

The extra hour was made available by the network’s decision to move Ruhle from her 9 a.m. morning slot to the job vacated by Williams in December.

At the time, we reported that Williams went out with what some view as a “whimper” on his last show with MSNBC on a Thursday night.

“Brian Williams signs off from NBC for the final time after 28 years ‘Until We Meet Again’,” Williams ended his show.

MSNBC President Rashida Jones said the shakeup will allow the network to bring Ruhle’s “business acumen, hard-hitting interview style and original reporting” to a nighttime audience and the move in the morning will “extend the reach of ‘Morning Joe.’”

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough retweeted a pair of tweets responding to the news about the extension of his and Mika Bryzinski’s show.

Ed Morrisey quote tweeted the report from NBC News and said, “Congrats to my friends @JoeNBC and @morningmika … I think? Four hours on the air is a looooong time.”

Left-wing outlet “The Palmer Report” said about the decison, “With ratings in freefall, it’s an industry cost cutting move.”

Elise Jordan was another retweet by Scarborough and she said, “Very excited that there will be an extra hour of @Morning_Joe every day! Congrats @JoeNBC@morningmika@WillieGeist@JonLemire and here’s to more fun in the mornings.”
