U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who was Speaker of the House under former President Donald Trump, felt the urge to share her thoughts on the indictment of Trump.
Pelosi tweeted, “The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law. No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence. Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right.”
Pelosi’s tweet even received a fact check or some context from Twitter:
“Ms. Pelosi mistakenly says that Trump can prove his innocence at trial. Law in the US assumes the innocence of a defendant and the prosecution must prove guilt for a conviction.”
The smug “no one is above the law” seems laughable to many, coming from someone on the left and rubbed many the wrong way.
Donald Trump Jr. replied, “A right to “prove innocence?” Ummmm … that’s not how it works drunk lady… after spending the last few millennia in DC I would have thought you’d know that. Apparently getting away with insider trading and making millions as a “public servant” (LOL) gave you a false sense of The Law!”
Pelosi appears to only have disdain for Trump. After one of his State of the Union addresses Pelosi stood up and ripped up the speech he had just delivered, showing the world her contempt for him.
Pelosi gave power to her democrat colleagues to pursue two failed impeachments of the former president. She also threw many fits in the media over how Trump conducted his White House.
Pelosi and those who have tried to besmirch Trump seem to be basking in the news of the history-making indictment.
