Will Smith’s movie “Fast and Loose”, which Netflix is producing, had its director leave the project prior to the scandal. Netflix put out a call for a new director, but after the slap, the project was quietly moved away.
This comes as we previously reported, “Actor Will Smith has resigned from the Motion Picture Academy and will accept any further consequences for his Oscars assault on comedian Chris Rock.
In a statement released today, Smith said, ‘I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.‘
Film academy president David Rubin said that while Smith’s resignation was accepted, it would not stop the Academy from moving forward with possible discipline.
The Academy’s leadership board met two days ago to initiate the disciplinary proceedings against Smith.“
Opinions on the slap range, as some believe Smith was justified to do so, while others argue he was in the wrong. Meanwhile, some believe the slap was staged to draw higher ratings for the Oscars, which has seen a decline in viewers in recent years.
While Hollywood actors may appear to be woke, they clearly don’t always live up to their own progressive ideals, which they push through the media. Either way, Smith’s career seems to be going drown the drain following the incident.
