According to a report, Manhattan prosecutors have made moves to signal that former President Donald Trump could face criminal charges in relation to his alleged role in making payments to adult entertainer Stormy Daniels.
The report came from the New York Times Thursday, they cited four undisclosed sources. Donald Trump is also running for president in 2024, making this a possibility of an unprecedented showdown.
Trump has been informed he can testify before a grand jury next week if he wishes.
Daniels has shared she received $130,000 before 2016 in exchange for not discussing her sexual relationship with Trump. Trump has denied this and stated he knew nothing about the payments made to Daniels.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney was sentenced to three years in prison for orchestrating the payments to Daniels and Karen McDougal who has shared she had a brief affair with Trump before he took office.
Many may think this won’t actually happen, others think it will help Donald Trump and/or backfire on the Manhattan prosecutors.
