MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow interrupted her self-imposed hiatus from MSNBC and returned to cover the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As we previously reported, Maddow took a leave of absence to work on a movie version of her podcast, “The Bag Man.”
Maddow was expected to appear during MSNBC’s coverage of some major events, like Joe Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address.
The invasion apparently constituted the first major event for her to return for, although an unexpected one.
In a tweet prior to her appearance, Maddow declared, “I’ll be on MSNBC starting at 8pm ET tonight, with reporters joining us live from Kiev, Kharkiv, Mariupol and more.”

A report yesterday claimed that White House press secretary Jen Psaki has emerged as a top candidate for Maddow’s anchor chair.
Psaki plans to step down from her position this year and is reportedly being courted by MSNBC as well as CNN.
