Early Thursday morning, House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tweeted:
“We will always fight for the middle class and all Americans who aspire to be part of it.”

His tweet inspired many rebukes. President of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC William Gheen called him out on the lie and elaborated, “That’s a lie. The American middle class has shrunk under your leadership and the illegal immigration and Amnesty you support is destroying families, lives, and futures for US citizens”

CEO of YourVoice™ Bill Mitchell hit Jeffries with a tweet about Biden’s inflation, “Inflation is a regressive tax on the middle class. Your guy Biden was the author of that. You are not fighting for the middle class, you are crushing it.”

Twitter user The Avid Constitutionalist called out Jeffries on his voting record, “Your voting record this past few years is evidence of the opposite. The people don’t believe your rhetoric any more.”
Many others joined in piling on their skepticism for what they see as hollow words from the new House minority leader who has replaced U.S. House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as leader of the House Democrats.
