Alianza Americas has filed a suit against Governor Ron DeSantis over the relocation of illegal immigrants from Texas to their final destination of Martha’s Vineyard.
Alianza Americas is a network of “migrant-led” organizations “working in the United States and transnationally to create an inclusive, equitable and sustainable way of life for communities across North, Central and South America.”
According to Fox News, the activist group has received neral $1.4 million from George Soros’ Open Society network. Records show that they have received a total of $1,383,947 from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2020.
Lawyers for Civil Rights filed the class action suit against “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Secretary of Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue, the State of Florida, and their accomplices” according to their press release.
The claim reads, “The class members were targeted and induced to board airplanes and cross state lines under false pretenses. Accomplices of state officials, including the Florida Governor, targeted immigrants recently released from shelters and made false promises of work opportunities, schooling for the children, and immigration assistance in order to induce travel.” It goes on to say they were unaware of where they were going, and also claims they were told they were going to Boston or Washington.
Lawyers for Civil Rights is a nonprofit which has received $50,000 from the Borealis Philanthropy in 2019, tax forms show. Borealis is a left-wing donor-advised fund that acts as an intermediary steering Democratic money to organizations.
According to Fox News, “Borealis has partnered with Black Lives Matter and the left-wing Marguerite Casey Foundation, which advocates for the abolishment of policing and prisons.”
“The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has also awarded $1.26 million to Alianza Americas between 2008 and 2020, according to grants posted on its website.”
In response to the lawsuit, DeSantis’s office released a statement which can be seen in the tweet below along with signed consent forms.
