On Tuesday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke on the Senate floor and stated, “Impeachment is an extraordinary remedy. It’s not designed for when you disagree. It’s not designed for when you have political differences or policy differences. It’s designed for when the president crosses the constitutional threshold. The House managers have abused the constitutional process by trying to use impeachment to settle a partisan score.”
He also appeared on Fox & Friends and spoke about Iowa and the impeachment trial, “Sen. Ted Cruz, said on Tuesday that he’s frustrated at the delay in reporting the Iowa Caucuses’ vote totals, arguing that it is a poor reflection of the Democratic Party’s ability to determine the best policy for the United States.”
He said, “Dems, right now, they can’t stand in a gymnasium and count who stands under which sign and they’re the ones that want to be in charge of our healthcare and everything else in our life. I mean, these are the socialist candidates who say, ‘We know best, trust us to run your life.’ Well, guys, how about figure out how to count your votes first.”
Cruz also spoke about Adam Schiff saying, “I thought his closing was much less effective than his opening … By the closing, he was just pissed. He was just standing there basically yelling at the Senate, ‘I can’t believe you people aren’t voting with me.’ I think he is just angry … It’s unfortunate today that the Democratic Party is defined by one thing: the hatred of Donald Trump.” View the clip below where he also hopes the State of the Union Address will focus on successes and results.
Tonight I hope we see an optimistic, positive #SOTU speech focused on victories, focused on successes, focused on economic results, and focused on security results. pic.twitter.com/PxvrWOggAM

Senator Cruz also slammed former Democratic President and Vice President Barack Obama and Joe Biden respectively. He mentioned how the Democrats complained about President Trump delaying military aid to Ukraine. It is true, he said, but then he went on about how the Obama administration did the same thing as well. Then he highlighted how President Trump has actually helped Ukraine far more than Obama.
“President Obama refused to give lethal military aid to Ukraine,” he said, despite the fact that Cruz himself called on Obama to do so during his tenor. “So if the House Managers are right that there’s something improper about delaying military aid, the Obama administration did so for the entirety of the Administration”. See the full video below where he also mentions Joe and Hunter Biden:
Also, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke on the floor of the Senate urging fellow Senators to vote to acquit the president. He said, “We have indeed witnessed and abuse of power, a grave abuse of power that the House Majority that the framers warned us about.” View his comments below:

As the impeachment trial is unwinding, a recent Gallup Poll shows Trump’s approval rating at 49%, his personal best. Also, according to Gallup, “As Trump’s job approval rating has improved, so has the image of the Republican Party. Now, 51% of Americans view the Republican Party favorably, up from 43% in September.
It is the first time GOP favorability has exceeded 50% since 2005.” To view more information about the poll and other details click here. The tweet below shows the approval ratings of each president at this point during their first term.
