Ted Cruz Throws Down the Gauntlet, Challenges Karine Jean-Pierre to Spend One Hour at the Southern Border to see if People ‘Walk Over’

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) threw down the gauntlet to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and challenged her to spend one hour at the southern border to see if people “walk over.”

The challenge from Cruz comes after Jean-Pierre previously denied that people do indeed simply “walk over” the southern border.

Cruz shared a clip of an interview that he gave on Fox Business in a tweet and declared, “President Biden refuses to go to the border because he knows the cameras will follow him & show the catastrophe taking place.”

“Meanwhile, the Biden White House is trying to pull the wool over Americans’ eyes. #BidenBorderCrisis,” Cruz added.

“Just a few days ago, the White House press secretary stood up and said, ‘no one is walking across the border, crossing illegally.'”

“It was a brazen lie. We’re used to press… spinning. It’s fairly unusual for a White House press secretary to simply look at the press and flat out lie.”

“I invited Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, I said come down to the southern border, come down to the Rio Grande Valley, spend one hour with me on the border.”

“I’ll take you out with the border patrol unit on midnight patrol and we will encounter dozens, if not hundreds of illegal aliens, any hour we do it in.”

Cruz vowed to tell the White House press corps that he was wrong if they don’t encounter anybody and wondered if Jean-Pierre would have the “courage and integrity” to admit that she “lied” if they did.

Previously, we reported that Fox News’ Peter Doocy pressed Jean-Pierre about vaccine mandates for non-Americans who are traveling into the country.

Doocy pointed out that many are walking over the southern border who are unvaccinated, which caused Jean-Pierre to deny that is occurring.

Doocy wondered, “Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane. You say that’s not OK. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they’re allowed to stay. Why?”

“But that’s not how it works, we actually…” Jean-Pierre insisted, as Doocy retorted, “I know that’s not what you guys want to happen, but that is what is happening.”

Jean-Pierre continued, chuckling, “It’s not like somebody walks over, that’s not how…”

“That’s exactly what’s happening. Thousands of people are walking in a day, some of them turn themselves over, some of them are caught, tens of thousands a week are not. That is what’s happening,” Doocy shot back.

Jean-Pierre then listed things that the administration is doing in an attempt to quell the number of illegal immigrants that are crossing the border.
