Joint Chief Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, according to excerpts from a new book, allegedly was a lone voice pushing back against Frmr. President Donald Trump’s desire to order the military to violently intervene against BLM protestors last year. Wall Street Journal Reporter Michael Bender released a new book titled “Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost” which describes Trump’s rhetoric as becoming increasingly abrasive and violent as protests continued to happen across the country last year following George Floyd’s death.
Excerpts from the book allege that Trump would show videos of law enforcement violently reprimanding protestors and encourage his administration to promote more of that behavior. Bender alleges that Trump told officials, “That’s how you’re supposed to handle these people – Crack their skulls!” Bender said Trump would tell his team that the military should “beat the f**k out” of these BLM demonstrators, thinking that would help restore law and order.

Gen. Milley and then-attorney General Bill Barr would grow uneasy by Trump’s promotion of violence and encourage Trump to tone it down. Bender alleged that Trump’s response to their uneasiness was this: “Well, shoot them in the leg—or maybe the foot, but be hard on them!”
Bender’s book reinforces beliefs that Trump consistently clashed with top Pentagon officials towards the end of his presidency. Trump adviser Stephen Miller allegedly supported Trump’s viewpoint and narrative, defending his encouragement of using the military to restore civility in these cities, saying, “these cities are burning!” Bender alleges that this comment from Miller infuriated Gen. Milley, causing Milley to point a finger at Miler and say, “Shut the f**k up, Stephen”.
Bender alleges that Milley grew very worried over how to control Trump and lead him away from invoking the Insurrection Act. Bender wrote that a desperate Milley pointed towards a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln and told Trump, “That guy had an insurrection. What we have, Mr. President, is a protest.”
A spokesperson for Milley declined to comment on Bender’s book according to CNN.
The release of Bender’s book will add to Republican criticism towards General Milley. Republicans have vocalized their discontent with the promotion of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in our public school system and have grown upset with Milley’s leadership over the Department of Defense. Republicans have proposed or passed legislation in over 20 states desiring to ban CRT.
When Milley was testifying before the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) questioned why students at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point were subject to listen to a seminar labeled “Understanding Whiteness and White Rage”. Milley snapped at Gaetz, saying, “What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America? What caused that? I want to find that out. I want to maintain an open mind here.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has joined in on the attacks directed towards Milley’s leadership, saying, “the race hate—and that’s what it is—has oozed from universities and it has infected the entire country, including at the highest levels.”

Carlson claimed that Milley did not get the job as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs because “he’s brilliant or because he’s brave. Or because people who know him respect him. He is not, and they definitely don’t. Milley got the job because he is obsequious. He knows who to suck up to, and he’s more than happy to do it. Feed him a script and he will read it.” Carlson labeled Milley as “not just a pig” but “stupid”.
Conservative voices across Twitter have supported the criticism directed towards Milley. Jack Posobiec called Milley a “disgrace to this country” and vouched that “future generations will hold him in shame for all time”.

Newsmax host Steve Cortes also called Milley a “disgrace” and believes that he is pushing to normalize “anti-white racism”.
We can’t allow anti-white racism to become normalized, certainly not in the military.
