Trump released a statement yesterday addressing Senator Mitt Romney being booed and heckled at the Utah GOP convention this weekend, calling Romney a stone cold loser. Trump’s Statement reads:
“So nice to se RINO Mitt Romney booed off the stage at the Utah Republican State Convention. They are among the earliest to have figured this guy out, a stone cold loser”

His censure was brought forth at the convention as well however it failed with a vote of 798 to 711. The censure was brought forth because Romney voted to remove Trump from office according to Utah Republican Party spokeswoman Lynda Cox.
In the video further down in this article you can see Romney come to the microphone with some applause and boos. The booing last quite a bit after the applause stops.
Romney started at the microphone with, “So what do you think about President Biden’s first 100 days?” all while the booing continues to grow louder.
“Now you know me as a person who says what he thinks, and I don’t hide the fact that I wasn’t a fan of our last president’s character issues,” he continued and then he paused as the booing had continued. With a deflated appearance Romney then asks the crowd, “Aren’t you embarrassed?”
Quite the question coming from Romney as one would could say yes they are embarrassed, of the Senator Romney who won the seat with an endorsement from Donald Trump. Romney quickly turned against Trump after winning and has remained very opposed to the former president even now.
Romney will be up for reelection in 2024 and I think it is safe to say that if he chooses to run again for his Senate seat he will have to do so with out any support from the Trump faction of the GOP. One could quip that maybe Romney will slide to the side of the Democrats like former Governor of Florida Charlie Crist who just announced he will be running as a Democrat for Governor of Florida in 2022.
