Former President Donald J. Trump issued a statement Wednesday following Virginia taking down a statue of Robert E. Lee and slicing it in half.
Trump said, “Just watched as a massive crane took down the magnificent and very famous statue of ‘Robert E. Lee On His Horse…Our culture is being destroyed and our history and heritage, both good and bad, are being extinguished by the Radical Left, and we can’t let that happen!”

Arizona GOP State Senator Wendy Rogers took to Twitter to support Lee and Trump’s statement saying, “I agree with President Trump. Robert E Lee was a great American and we must preserve our history!” While some view Lee as a hero and some view him as a traitor, many believe that these statues should stay up.

Below is a video of the statue being removed Wednesday as some gathered to cheer on the destruction of the monument which has stood for many years in Richmond.
Not only did they remove his monument, but they also cut the figure depicting Robert E. Lee in half which many may find disrespectful to the General. Whether people hate him or love him most would think it would be right to leave the statue in one piece.
Like Trump, many think this “cancel culture” will start with Robert E. Lee and continue on with people like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. That is why some could say it is time we stop allowing our history and heritage to be destroyed.
