Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) spoke on the House floor today during the 6 hour period of debate before the House of Representatives voted on the impeachment of President Trump. Higgins spoke during the time allotted to debate Article 1: Abuse of Power. This article states that President Trump withheld aid and pressured Ukraine to investigate political opponents.
The Republican from Louisiana’s 3rd District stated, “America is being severely injured by this betrayal by this unjust and weaponized impeachment brought upon us by the same socialists who threaten unborn life in the womb, who threaten First Amendment rights of conservatives, who threaten Second Amendment protections of every American patriot, and who have long ago determined that they would organize and conspire to overthrow President Trump.
We don’t face this horror because the Democrats all of a sudden have become constitutionalists. We are not being devoured from within because of the surreal assertion of the socialists new found love for the very flag they trot upon. We face this horror because of this map. This is what the Democrats fear. They fear the true will of we the people,” Higgins said.
When referring to the map of President Trump’s Electoral College win, he stated, “They call this Republican map flyover country. They call us deplorables. They fear our faith. They fear our strength. They fear our unity. They fear our vote. And they fear our President. We will never surrender our nation to career establishment D.C. politicians,” Higgins said. Watch his statement below:

Democrats fear the will of the American people, they fear our strength, they fear our unity, they fear our faith & they fear they will lose at the ballot box AGAIN.

Earlier in the month, Higgins tweeted that the House Democrats already determined that Trump was guilty before any investigations. See his tweet below.
Democrats have been charging toward impeachment since President Trump was first elected. This was an investigation in search of a crime. The outcome was predetermined long ago.

This morning, a Republican motion was defeated to adjourn. The vote was on strictly party lines with 188 Republicans voting yes and 225 Democrats and Independent Justin Amash voting no. There were sixteen congress members not voting. View the details of the vote here.
In an opinion piece published on Fox News, Former Speaker of the House and Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich wrote about the stark comparison between the pro-Trump universe and the anti-Trump universe. Gingrich wrote, “Watching recent developments in the House Democratic Party, it is clear that the effort to impeach President Trump has nothing to do with facts or a normal process of investigation and evidence-based prosecution. We are living through a process defined by a pro-Trump universe and an anti-Trump universe. The great economy, record-low unemployment, the conservative judges, the achievements in renewing the Space program, and a host of other positive things are occurring in the pro-Trump universe. However, the willful avoidance of facts and evidence by left-wing media and left-wing Democrats is a sign that there is an alternative anti-Trump universe,” Gingrich said. Read his full writing here.
