In a now-deleted Facebook post, Lamar County, White Texas Democratic Party chair Gary O’Connor used a racial slur in reference to U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC).
“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” O’Connor wrote in reference to Scott’s rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s Congressional address on Wednesday, in a post that included an article from The Washington Post.
Lamar County is located in northeast Texas in the 4th District where Republican Pat Fallon is the current Congressman. Fallon issued a press release yesterday where he called on O’Connor to apologize and resign.
“Gary O’Connor’s comment against Senator Tim Scott is abhorrent, insulting, and unforgivable. Both he and the entire Lamar County Democratic Party should be ashamed of this racist behavior,” Fallon said in the statement.
Fallon continued in the statement, “O’Connor must apologize and step down immediately. Additionally, I call on both the Democratic Party of Texas and the NAACP to condemn these words, and the state party should take swift action to censure him.”
“This kind of behavior is not tolerable in Texas, the United States, or any political party,” Fallon added in the statement.
Twitter user Aaron Keller Douglas weighed in on the comments and said in a tweet, “What’s with white people like Texas Dem Gary O’Connor piling on Black politician #TimScott? Just kidding. I know. They’re closet supremacists who thought being Dems gave them permission to also attack a Black Repub. Thing is, even if Black people slur him, they still can’t.”

Just kidding. I know. They’re closet supremacists who thought being Dems gave them permission to also attack a Black Repub. Thing is, even if Black people slur him, they still can’t 😬🙅🏽♂️.
Previously, we reported:
It was reported earlier that Twitter took enforcement action on this morning to block a racist trending topic that disparaged U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) after he delivered the GOP response to President Joe Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress.
The Blaze compiled a list of tweets from progressives using the phrase “Uncle Tim” which surfaced so many times on Twitter that it became a trend.
U.S. House Rep Burgess Owens (R-UT) shared his thoughts on the situation in a tweet where he said, “The same people who are making Uncle Tim trend are the same people accusing all conservatives of being racist.”
