‘Yellowstone’ Actor Announces That He Is Unable to Attend SAG Awards Show Over Vaccination Rules

“Yellowstone” actor Forrie J. Smith announced that he is unable to attend the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards show over the event’s vaccination rules in a now-deleted Instagram video post.

As we previously reported, the non-woke drama series was nominated for its first Screen Actors Guild award after four seasons.

Variety reported that Smith is one of several actors who are listed as nominees as part of the “Yellowstone” SAG Award ensemble nomination.

Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Costner leads the group along with Kelsey Asbille, Wes Bentley, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, Ian Bohen, Eden Brolin, Hugh Dillon, Luke Grimes, Hassie Harrison, Cole Hauser, Jennifer Landon, Finn Little, Brecken Merrill, Will Patton, Piper Perabo, Kelly Reilly, Denim Richards, Taylor Sheridan, and Jefferson White.

Smith stars in the series as Lloyd Pierce, a senior ranch hand on the Dutton Ranch and he was featured in a recurring role on the show’s first two seasons before being upped to a series regular in Season 3.

Season 4 of “Yellowstone” also gave Smith his most material to date, Variety noted.

In the video, Smith declared, “I mean no offense to anyone. I’m not vaccinated and it’s a requirement to be vaccinated to be at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony.”

“I haven’t been vaccinated since I was a little kid. I don’t vaccinate my dogs, I don’t vaccinate my horses. I’ve never had a flu shot. I never will. I believe they compromise your immunities,” Smith insisted.

On the SAG Awards website, it says that all ticketed attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination plus booster shot (if eligible), proof of a negative lab-based Covid-19 PCR test within 48 hours of the event, and a negative antigen (rapid) test the day of the event.

Smith also explained he had been looking forward to walking the red carpet in his “big black American hat” and “Justin boots” as well as representing his “culture and heritage.”

Conservative Twitter user Stacy Rae said of the decision in a viral tweet where she shared a screenshot from his now-deleted video, “Real cowboys make their own choices.”

Another Twitter user, Maria Leah, shared the now-deleted video and stressed, “his words struck a chord in me and I admire this man very much even though I’m not a big fan of the show.”

On Smith’s Instagram account he describes himself as a “True cowboy. ❤ my country!!”
