Netflix Execs See Writing on the Wall, Tell Woke Workers They can Quit Their Jobs if They are Offended

The co-CEOs at Netflix have been pushing wokeness for a long time. Perhaps they are starting to see the writing on the wall, if only for the reason of money, and probably nothing else. Despite this, however, it may be too little, too late.

Although there was a partial “win” with the right-wing culture war when Dave Chappelle’s controversial comedy bit was allowed to stand, many radical left-wing programs are still on Netflix as well. So if being neutral is a win, perhaps it’s a very small win.

It is being reported that under co-CEOs Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos’ leadership, “woke” employees are being welcomed to quit their jobs if they are offended. Perhaps there are job cuts on the way anyway, and this is just a form of attrition, as Netflix stock has fallen precipitously from its highs in recent weeks.

Perhaps they want conservatives to stop canceling their accounts, which might be more hurtful than “password sharing”. We may never know for sure.

The New York Post reported more on this in part:

“As employees we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories, even if we find some titles counter to our own personal values,” read the memo, titled “Netflix Culture — Seeking Excellence.”

“Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful,” the communiqué continued. “If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

The note, dispatched Thursday, follows ongoing personnel protests of Chappelle’s barbs regarding transgender individuals in the Netflix special “The Closer,” which debuted on the digital platform in October.

As we said earlier, if this is about fixing the stock price for Netflix, it may be too late, but only time will tell if there is a real cultural shift against “wokeness” going forward.
