White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is in damage control mode for Joe Biden in our view. She doesn’t think it matters that much that Thanksgiving dinner is much higher in price this year in our opinion. Her attempt at belittling the inflation only went to show the disconnect between those running the country and the common man.
Psaki was asked about Biden’s messaging when promising to help with inflation and on the same day running off to a billionaire’s compound in Nantucket for a few days off, while Americans face the most expensive Thanksgiving ever.
Psaki decided to respond with a story about turkeys, avoiding the overall point of the question asked. “I don’t know if you’ve ever cooked a turkey before, but a twenty-pound turkey is a pretty big turkey. I think we can all agree. They’re about one dollar more,” Psaki starts with.
Quickly she adds, “Not to minimize that, any increase in prices is something the president is concerned about. As is evidence of his announcement today [releasing less than three days worth of oil reserves]. And as his efforts to push forward on additional relief for the American people. But I just want to be clear that there are an abundance of turkeys available, they’re about one dollar more for a 20lb bird, which is a huge bird if you’re feeding a very big family. Ah and that’s something again we’ve been working to make sure people have more money in their pockets to address it as the economy is turning back on.”

These comments sound similar to her comments about the supply shortage mocking people having to wait for treadmills when most people are concerned with inflation of food and gas. Sound very much like Marie Antoinette’s let them eat cake, Psaki let them eat turkey.
John Cooper added, “Jen Psaki downplays the increased cost of Thanksgiving this year, saying your turkey is only “about one dollar more.” These elites just really don’t get it. She might as well be Lucille Bluth asking how much a banana costs. #inflation“

Twitter user Perpetual Outrage Czar shared a clip from an ABC news story showing the price of a turkey is up 70% or 1.36 per pound.

Andrew Fisher shared a Texas A&M Agrilife extension info that shows a 16lb turkey is almost double the cost of last year.
“Did Jen Psaki say yesterday only 1 Dollar more expensive for a 20 lb turkey ? @pdoocy @PressSec You Little Red Lying Hood !”

It’s hard to say where Psaki got her numbers from or if she just made it up on the fly, but it doesn’t sound like she is convincing people.
