AOC Theorizes That People Might Be Unfollowing Sarah Sanders on Twitter Out of ‘Disgust’ for Her ‘Support of a Coupist’ and Because ‘They Care About Our Country’

House Rep. and member of “The Squad” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has seized on what happened Wednesday at the Capitol to launch an all-out assault on members of the Republican party who have been critical of her in the past in an attempt to raise her profile.

Today, the sophomore Congresswoman appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and then later quote tweeted former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders with a theory about why her follower count has been shrinking.

Sanders tweeted out yesterday, “I’ve lost 50k+ followers this week. The radical left and their big tech allies cannot marginalize, censor, or silence the American people. This is not China, this is United States of America, and we are a free country.”

AOC responded with some “Free advice,” where she suggested that “if you are losing tens of thousands of followers the moment Twitter starts taking down Neo-Nazis and violent insurrectionists, maybe don’t advertise that!”

“Also maybe people are unfollowing you out [of] disgust for your support of a coupist bc they care about our country,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

There is no evidence, however, that people are unfollowing prominent Republicans for that reason. In fact, according to Newsmax, a Rasmussen poll shows President Trump’s approval rating has risen since Wednesday.

AOC also suggested in another tweet prior to that one that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA) should resign.

Ocasio-Cortez began, “The elected officials who amplified & repeated known lies about our elections served as drum corps to insurrectionists.”

“The drum major in the House was @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy. Rep. McCarthy bears unique, elevated responsibility in all this chaos. He must resign,” she concluded.
