Axios: Unnamed Source Claims Trump Says DeSantis Has ‘Dull Personailty’ Amid Presidential Run Rumors

According to Axios, an unnamed source close to former President Donald Trump claims that Trump said that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has no chance at beating the former president in 2024.

“NEW: Donald Trump is trashing Ron DeSantis in private as an ingrate with a “dull personality” and no realistic chance of beating him in a potential 2024 showdown, sources who’ve recently talked to the former president about the Florida governor tell Axios.”

According to the anonymous source, Trump has said that “DeSantis has no personal charisma and has a dull personality”. In addition to this, Trump has been reportedly critical of the Governor and is not worried about DeSantis as a potential primary challenger.

Axios reported, “Behind the scenes: ‘In the context of the 2024 election, he usually gives DeSantis a pop in the nose in the middle of that type of conversation,’ said a source who recently spoke to Trump about DeSantis.

A second source who’s discussed DeSantis with Trump said the reason for the former president’s irritation with the popular governor is ‘that Ron DeSantis won’t say he won’t run [in 2024]. … The others have stated pretty clearly they won’t challenge him.’ DeSantis also did not respond to a request for comment.

It is likely that Trump may come out and deny this as mere hearsay or there could be some truth that Trump doesn’t like DeSantis. Some have proposed DeSantis being Trump’s running mate though if this report is true, the chances of that are small. On the other hand, the media could be scared of a potential Trump-DeSantis ticket and might be trying to prevent it by causing division.

With DeSantis and Trump being similar in policy, the likelihood of DeSantis actually challenging Trump in the Republican primary is close to none. After Pence’s betrayal as Trump sees it, the former president could be worried that Pence or Desantis would challenge him as neither of the two have ruled it out.
