An employee of Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire, Matt Walsh went after Trump on Twitter and pushed that the GOP should move away from the former president and embrace Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as the Republican nominee in 2024. Below is his tweet from Sunday afternoon.
“The Biden/Harris campaign would love to run against Trump again in 2024. All the Dems know how to do is run against Trump. They wouldn’t want to run against DeSantis. Younger, fresher, no baggage, track record of success.”

And that’s why DeSantis should be the guy.
Walsh ridiculed Trump by saying, “The Biden/Harris campaign would love to run against Trump again in 2024. All the Dems know how to do is run against Trump. They wouldn’t want to run against DeSantis. Younger, fresher, no baggage, track record of success.”
He said that DeSantis should in turn be the 2024 nominee because Trump is older, not fresh, has too much ‘baggage’, and doesn’t have a track record of success. Trump has the energy of a young person, is still fresh, has no baggage in they yea of his most ardent supporters, and was able to accomplish more in four years than any other recent Republican president.
Many think that since Trump was not able to maintain the presidency he is now some type of old toy which has been used too much. As Trump has said before, “The best is yet to come.” Trump is certainly not finished nor should he as many at CPAC agree.
A CPAC straw poll had Trump at 55% compared to DeSantis at just 21% for the 2024 GOP nomination however, when Trump is removed from the mix DeSantis is the clear frontrunner with 43%.
This also comes as the CPAC crowd is currently and loudly chanting, “We want Trump.” Majority of GOP voters do want Trump whether establishmentarian Republicans like Matt Walsh want him. Trump is the present and the future of the GOP and there is no getting rid of him no matter how hard they try.
DeSantis is a great Governor and has a bright future. The young 43-year-old will have his time but right now this is Donald Trump’s time and he is our guy.
We will have to see if Trump announces his run for president tonight though it is unexpected.
