President Biden’s Press Secretary Jen Psaki released a statement on Twitter this afternoon regarding her Deputy, TJ Ducklo, after he responded to a Politico reporter asking for a comment in a “rude and sexist” way and has been suspended without pay for one week. Below is her tweet.
“With the approval of the White House Chief of Staff, he has been placed on a one-week suspension without pay. In addition, when he returns, he will no longer be assigned to work with any reporters at Politico.
In addition to his initial apology, he has sent the reporter a personal note expressing his profound regret.”

Psaki added that he sent an apology note hand-written to the reporter and when he returns from his one-week suspension he will no longer be assigned to a politico reporter as we previously mentioned.
In addition to that, Psaki said that he will not receive pay during his short one-week suspension. Some have criticized that his punishment is not enough as Biden did say that he would fire people who acted in a manner such as he did.
Psaki said in the press briefing today that, “Well let me first say obviously Katlin, I take this very seriously.”
She followed that by later saying, “He had a heated conversation about a story related to his personal life. I am not saying that is acceptable but I just want to be clear it was not related to an issue about the White House.”
She also said that she wants no one to feel uncomfortable and she dodged questions asking what she is doing to deal with his sexist statements.
Independent.co previously reported in part:
President Joe Biden on Wednesday told his staff that anyone found treating a colleague with disrespect will be fired on the spot, in an attempt to distinguish his presidency with dignity of office, public service and humility.
Mr Biden made the comment while administering the oath of office to hundreds of White House officials through video conferencing.
Biden previously said that if his staffers are rude they would be fired. Journalists such as CNN’s Jake Tapper are not happy.
“Btw this isn’t just a violation of the Biden pledge, or his broader promise of decency. I’ve had verbal fights with press secretaries for more than 20 years and no one has ever spoken to me like this. It’s misogyny and emblematic of the double standard women reporters face. “
