Josh Hawley and Tom Cotton Rip Merrick Garland for ‘Weaponizing DOJ and FBI Against Parents’ and Call for His Resignation

Both Republican U.S. Senators Hawley (MO) and Cotton (AR) joined Ted Cruz in blasting Attorney General Merrick Garland today during a Judiciary Committee hearing and the two Senators called for Garland to resign.

“Merrick Garland’s performance as Attorney General has been shameful. He should resign in disgrace.”

Senator Tom Cotton said, “That refers to Scott Smith, whose 15-year-old daughter was raped, she was raped in a bathroom by a boy wearing girl’s close and the Laundon County school board covered it up because it would have interfered with their transgender policy during pride month.”

Gartland refused to apologize to Scott Smith and Senator Cotton continued saying, “This testimony, your directive, your performance is shameful. Thank God you are not on the Supreme Court. You should resign in disgrace Judge.”

“Sen. @HawleyMO to Merrick Garland: ‘You have weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice” against innocent parents, “and I call on you to resign.'”

Senator Hawley also went after Merrick Garland saying, “I will leave it at this General Garland. You have weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice, your U.S. Attorney’s and now collecting and cataloging all the ways that they might prosecute parents like Mr. Smith because they want to be involved in their children’s education and they want to have a say in their elected officials. It is wrong, it is unprecedented to my knowledge in the history of this country, and I call on you to resign.”

As you can see Republican Senators like Cotton, Cruz, and Hawley are furious with the idea of parents not having a say in their children’s education. Especially in the case of Scott Smith who was arrested for speaking out against his daughter’s rape.
