Chicago heads to the polls today to vote for their next mayor. The race will likely head to a runoff that will be held on April 4th. Current Mayor Lori Lightfoot is feeling the pressure and has turned to using the race card in an effort to secure more votes.
Lightfoot has been polling behind Paul Vallas, who it is anticipated she will face in the runoff with possibly one of the other candidates running to oust her from her position.
Politico has even reported that she is in danger of becoming “the first Chicago mayor defeated in 40 years.”
Lightfoot believes she has been portrayed differently in the media because she is a “woman of color.” She complained to Politico that former Mayor Rahm Emanuel was portrayed as an embattled “tough guy” by Time magazine. She claimed the magazine refused to give her the same treatment ahead of the mayoral race and believes it is because she is a black woman.
She accused Time of playing not only the race card but also the gender card as they haven’t portrayed her as a strong mayor. If she wasn’t a black woman she believes she would have received a similar cover to Emanuel.
Politico speculated that Lightfoot may not even garner enough support to make it to the runoff.
Lightfoot admitted she has made mistakes but deflected adding, “she was judged more harshly as a Black woman.”
Paul Vallas is the one candidate that appears to be certain to make it to the runoff. He has been the center in many of Lightfoot’s attacks. On the eve of the election, Lightfoot lobbed an attack involving race yet again.
We should see later today who will head to the runoff and if Lightfoot will be able to make it to the next phase.

Has nothing to do with being black, or being a woman. It has to do with competence… sanity would be a big bonus too, (in this case).
Lori Lightfoot is incompetent, and insane…. unqualified to hold any office whatsoever.
She’s right – America does not want a lying, cheating, corrupt, lesbian, democrat black woman as mayor. They want them in jail!

Black should not be a requirement what is required is an intelligent, common sense person with leadership qualities of any color.
Voters expect competence from their elected officials. Leadership has never been demonstrated by this mayor. Her color is now her excuse to cover for her corruption, lying, and incompetence.
Lighthead is now claiming she lost because she is black. Always play the race card. She should have said that she lost because she is a hateful, incompetent, ignorant moron.
Chicago still has not had a black women in leadership, which was the problem. Bug eyes couldn’t lead a dog a on a leash.
So a liberal, black, lesbian, racist isn’t the best choice after all? Chicago – you elected that!
Lori did all of this on her own, she only has herself to blame. A tough pill to swallow. The country watched as she torched a once great city with her stupid, vapid and racist policies. Even Democrats saw her destructiveness- wow! Bye bye, and don’t let the door hit you on the ass. Oh, let me add, she’ll probably announce that she is running for Congress, Senate or President next????
