Mark Cuban Takes an ‘L’ as NBA Issues Statement That Mavericks Will Indeed Honor the National Anthem Tradition After Trying to Cancel it

This past Wednesday, Dallas Mavericks’ owner received backlash from all patriotic basketball fans and Americans when he announced that the Mavericks would not be playing the National Anthem at their games. In all 11 of their home games this year, the Mavericks have not played
the anthem.

However, this afternoon the NBA’s commissioner Mike Bass released a statement insisting that all teams will adhere to the league’s longstanding policy of playing the national anthem before their games:

The NBA policy states this on the National Anthem: “Players, coaches, and trainers must stand and line up in a dignified posture along the foul lines during the playing of the American and/or Canadian National Anthems.”

While this policy was not enforced by former commissioner Adam
Silver during the BLM/police brutality, one can hope that the current commissioner Mike Bass will require NBA players to respect their country.

The commissioner’s announcement excited many people who truly love our country, including the governor of Texas, Dan Patrick. Patrick praised the NBA for their statement, saying this on
Twitter:

In a nice change of pace, lawmakers like Patrick are truly fighting against globalist elites like Mark Cuban! Mark Cuban was not thrilled with the NBA’s reversal of his anthem decision: “We respect and always have respected the passion people have for the anthem and our
country. But we also loudly hear the voices of those who feel that the anthem does not represent them,” he said. “We feel that their voices need to be respected and heard because they have not been.” He continued, “Going forward, our hope is that people will take the same passion they have for this issue and apply the same amount of energy to listen to those who feel differently from them. Only then we can move forward and have
courageous conversations that move this country forward and find what unites us.”

Not only the governor of Texas & the commissioner of the NBA vocalized their disapproval of Cuban’s decision but the Dallas Stars, who play in the same stadium as the Mavericks, expressed
their disapproval of Cuban with this tweet:

The public backlash against un-American policies like Cuban’s decision is something quite admirable and hopeful. Tradition is not dead yet! Massive corporations like the NBA and the Dallas Stars showing their support for patriotism and tradition in their organizations is a small white pill in our chaotic world.
