Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, “The goal of new Twitter is to be as fair and even-handed as possible. So not favoring any political ideology. Just being fair to all.”
This opened the door for Carlson to ask, “Why doesn’t Facebook do this? I know that Zuckerberg has said and I take him a face value that.” Musk starts to laugh. “Well I do actually in this way,” Carlson explained. “He is an old school liberal, who doesn’t like to censor, he has but why wouldn’t a company like that take the standing you’ve taken? Which is pretty rooted in American traditional political custom, you know from free speech.”
“My understanding is that Zuckerberg spent $400 million in the last election nominally in a get out the vote campaign but fundamentally in support of Democrats. Is that accurate or inaccurate?” Musk asked of Carlson. To which Carlson answered laughing, “That is accurate.”
“Does that sound unbiased to you?” Musk asks. “No it doesn’t,” Carlson answered. “Yes,” Musk confirmed.
“So you don’t see hope that Facebook will approach this as a non-aligned arbitrator”
Musk made it clear he doesn’t think Zuckerberg can put aside his bias for a more politically equal platform. Musk took Carlson’s attempt to paint Zuckerberg as a harmless centrist and smashed it by bringing up the millions he put in to get out the votes for Democrats.
