Matt Gaetz Makes Case Against Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House

Matt Gaetz isn’t happy with Kevin McCarthy. He is calling for a change in leadership in the House. He and Russ Vought discussed McCarthy’s tweet in which McCarthy shared he was setting up his “transition team”.

Gaetz had this to say about McCarthy’s announcement, “It is incredibly disrespectful to his members to be that presumptuous when he knows he doesn’t have the votes to be Speaker of the House. It should offend members of Congress who have a vote on this.”

Earlier the same day Gaetz called out Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell as well as Ronna McDaniel in a different tweet.

“McCarthy, McConnell, McDaniel, McFailure”.

Gaetz called them out over the failure to deliver on a “red wave” during the midterm elections. With the polls showing so strongly before the election it is dishearting to see the actual reality of the elections. McCarthy, McConnell, and McDaniel are the leaders of the GOP and have a responsibility for the election results.

Gaetz later singled out a tweet attacking McCarthy with, “Kevin McCarthy: Defended Liz Cheney when @jdanbishop first sought her ouster Told GOP Leadership Trump should resign after J6 Kevin is FLIGHT over FIGHT when the chips are down He is not a Speaker for these times”

Gaetz then shared a tweet from Tomi Lahren in which Lahren states she wants to see Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House as he is “the real deal.” Gaetz supported her idea with “The movement is growing”.

Gaetz is also calling for a delay in votes on House and Senate leadership as many elections have yet to be called. He wants those who are elected to the next Congress to be the ones who decide on the leadership. He is not alone, as U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) called for a delay as well.
