U.S. House Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took her time at the House Oversight Committee to confront Twitter’s former head of Trust & Safety Yoel Roth over her account being banned from Twitter and exposing some very inappropriate tweets Roth made.
Greene started her time by telling the panel they wouldn’t have time to respond to what she had to say since they had permanently banned her personal Twitter account. The account was her campaign account she noted, calling it election interference.
The account remained banned until after the November elections in 2022 when it was finally reinstated on November 21st.
Toward the end of her time, Greene focuses on Roth. “It’s amazing to me Mr. Roth as the head of Trust and Safety at Twitter. Your ability or should I say inability to remove child porn.”
“Now here’s something that disgusts me about you. In your doctoral dissertation titled ‘Gay Data’, you argued that minors should have access to Grinder, an adult male gay hook-up app. Minors really..,” she said as she started in.
“You know Musk took over Twitter and he banned forty-four thousand accounts that were promoting child porn. You permenatly banned my Twitter account, but you allowed child porn all over Twitter.”
“Twitter had become a platform you said, connecting queer young adults. You also wrote on Twitter in 2010, ‘Can high school students ever meaningfully consent to sex with their teachers’.”
“In 2021 while you were the director of Trust and Safety at Twitter an under-aged boy and his mother announced a lawsuit against Twitter. Because Twitter was benefiting from and refused to remove a lewd video featuring this boy and another minor. That is repulsive.”
Greene asks, “But you violated me what were my tweets?” She then shared tweets that she believes were the reason she was removed, which were labeled covid miss information.
Greene brought up the hypocrisies that seemed obvious to many on Twitter, targeting of conservatives. All the way it seems by her examples that lewd inappropriate culture was allowed to run rampant even when it potentially hurt minors.
