MTG Against Challenge to Kevin McCarthy for Speaker, Equates Never Kevin to Never Trump

Congresswoman from Georgia Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) doesn’t support challenges to Kevin McCarthy’s leadership position within the House. While some within the House GOP are calling for new leadership Greene thinks it’s a “bad” Idea.

While on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” Greene shared she isn’t on board with those within the GOP who want to challenge McCarthy’s run for Speaker of the House.

Bannon starts the discussion, “With Andy Biggs and others coming to the forefront to say under no circumstances they would vote for current leadership, what say you, ma’am?”

“Well I actually think that’s a bad strategy,” Greene started. “When we’re looking at having a very razor-thin majority. With potentially 219 we’re talking about one vote. We’ve already been through two years where we’ve seen Republicans, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, join the Democrats and produce a January 6th committee.”

“Let me tell you something here Steve, here’s the harsh reality. And I’m going to lay it out very clearly for everyone watching,” she continues. “There are Republicans in our conference right now that would make a deal with the Democrats and cross over… It’s very risky right now to produce a leadership challenge, especially for Speaker of the House, when they are going to open the door and allow Liz Cheney possibly to become Speaker.”

Greene says there are 20 Republicans who remain elected to the House and still respect Liz Cheney and what she has done.

“The danger is this, do we want to watch a challenge for Speaker of the House simply because the Never Kevin movement, just like we’ve seen a Never Trump movement. Do we want to see that challenge open the door to Nacy Pelosi handing the gavel to Liz Cheney,” Green warns.

“I will not do it. There is no way in hell, I will stand there and allow that to happen.” She then states the conference, except for the challenge would all support Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.

It appears Greene is afraid that Cheney will become Speaker of the House if there is a challenge from within the GOP that is mounted.

There are reports that the Chairman of the Freedom Caucus, Andy Biggs (AZ-R) will be challenging Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House. Greene is also a member of the Freedom Caucus and it seems that she would rather stand with the establishment out of fear of Pelosi and the Democrats.

  1. Wow. Didn’t take long for her to curl up into a fetal position.

She learned just enough from Trump to get elected, but not enough to lead.

  2. I want to share my share of shares with other sharers sharing their share of shares with sharers.

  5. Just a Few Minutes ago, I thought MTG was one of the Really Greats.

  6. I love MTG and it really burns me that she said this (which I watched live this a.m.). IMHO she is wrong, though I actually understand her reasoning. In this case, I believe it’s a matter of NOT doing the same thing over and over again. The same result over and over again is KILLING THIS COUNTRY.

I couldn’t get a read on whether Steve was non-plussed, taken aback or just in quiet agreement. I later told my husband the show was one of the most discombobulating and disquieting War Rooms I’ve seen in ages, and I’ve been watching since they started 3+ years ago

  7. Very sad. Mrs. Luntz censured MTG for speaking the truth about 911, made her apologize and removed her committee assignments. He needs to go.

  8. I know that none of the RINO’s can be trusted to do the right thing and shame on MTG if she thinks you can make a deal with the devil and win. Time to stand our ground. MTG is wrong!!
