The Russian News Agency TASS reported that Russia will hold woke U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner until at least May 19th.

As we previously reported, “WNBA star Brittney Griner is in hot water as she has been detained in Russia since February and could face up to 10 years in prison after customs officers found ‘vapes’ containing hashish oil in her luggage.
Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, said in July 2020, ‘I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season.‘
In Russia, Griner has played with UMMC Ekaterinburg since 2015 during the WNBA offseason in the winter.
Per TASS, the court said, “The court granted the request of the investigation and extended the period of detention of the US citizen Griner until May 19.” Griner allegedly got caught smuggling narcotics into Moscow’s airport putting herself in this situation.

As Griner is practically stranded in Russia for the foreseeable future, you have to wonder what mindz she is experiencing. While we don’t want to see any Americans held captive in Russia, we don’t know if she committed a crime or something else. Either way, most would argue she is wishing she was in the United States right now even if she doesn’t like the national anthem.
