Ted Cruz Presses Judge Jackson on Critical Race Theory After She Claims She Doesn’t Know if it’s Being Taught in Schools

Texas Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz pressed Biden’s nominee for the Supreme Court after she claimed she didn’t know whether Critical Race Theory is being taught in schools.

“Ted Cruz repeatedly pressed Ketanji Brown Jackson over her position on the board of trustees at Georgetown Day School, a private school in D.C., and what role CRT has in the school’s curriculum.”

Judge Jackson, Biden’s nominee for Justice Breyer’s Supreme Court seat, was questioned Tuesday by Cruz over Critical Race Theory being taught in schools. Jackson is a member of the board of trustees at Georgetown Day School which is a private school in the District of Columbia.

During Cruz’s thorough questioning of Jackson, he highlighted examples of Critical Race Theory books and material being taught in Georgetown Day School. One book highlighted by him was “How to Be an Antiracist” and another “Anti Racist Baby“.

Cruz said, “There are portions of this book that I find really quite remarkable. One portion of the book says babies are taught to be racist or anti-racist, there is no neutrality. In another portion of the book, they recommend the babies confess when being racist.”

“Do you agree with this book that is being taught with kids that babies are racist,” Cruz asked.

After a long sigh, Jackson responded, “I have not reviewed any of those books, any of those ideas. They don’t come up in my work as a judge, which I’m respectfully here to address.” However, Cruz mentioned that in a 2015 speech she did talk about Critical Race Theory.

“You did a speech in April of 2015 at the University of Chicago in which you describe the job you do as a judge, and you said sentencing is just plain interesting because it melds together many types of law, criminal law and, of course, constitutional law, critical race theory,” Cruz explained.
