Teddy Daniels Calls out PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro for ‘Meltdown’ Over Audit of Three Counties

We reported yesterday that State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-PA) announced that he had issued letters to several counties requesting information and materials needed to conduct a forensic audit of the 2020 general election and the 2021 primary.

Democratic Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro was furious at the news and in a three part tweet, had what Congressional candidate Teddy Daniels deemed a “meltdown.”

“Although 2 legal audits have already been completed, Senator Mastriano is now requesting a laundry list of confidential and privileged information from 3 counties in continued efforts to pay homage to former President Trump and further spread misinformation about our elections,” Shapiro claimed.

Shapiro then suggested that the counties should disobey the request and suggested, “These counties should refuse to participate in this partisan fishing expedition. This ‘audit’ could risk decertifying the counties’ voting machines, costing county taxpayers’ millions of dollars.”

“Right now this information is being requested voluntarily but should subpoenas be issued, you can expect our office to do everything to protect the Commonwealth, its voters and the free, fair election that was held in Pennsylvania,” Shapiro insisted.

Daniels shared a screenshot of the tweets and explained, “When @JoshShapiroPA , our liberal attorney general in PA has total meltdowns over the Audit of only 3 counties in PA, tells me we are definitely over target with the Audit. The AG failed his office by not investigating criminal election complaints.”

Shapiro appeared on CNN last night with Anderson Cooper and tweeted a clip of his appearance and said, “This ‘forensic audit’ is a sham being pushed by one insurrectionist state senator who wants Trump’s approval.”

“There have already been two legal audits in PA—both confirmed Biden’s win. I’m not about to let his fishing expedition cost Pennsylvanians their money or their privacy,” Shapiro again claimed.

Last month, we reported that when Mastriano had first discussed the possibility of a forensic audit, Shapiro declared on MSNBC that “They’ll have to go through me” if they want to do it.

Mastriano spoke to Jenna Ellis at the time and dismissed Shapiro’s claims by delivering a message to Shapiro: “There’s something called a Constitution – and guess what? The legislative body has oversight of the manner and conduct of elections.”

“So that means we are responsible with the transparency part,” Mastriano continued, asking, “What do [they] have to hide?”

Republican Congressional candidate Teddy Daniels shared a video clip of Mastriano’s response and said in a tweet, “Yep, @JoshShapiroPA , nobody needs to go through you you aren’t even part of the equation.”

Daniels added, “It’s a constitutional republic, not a tyrannical socialist government.”
