“Top Gun: Maverick” set a new record this Memorial Day weekend with an estimated $156 million domestically for its four-day opening weekend.
This gives the film the record for the biggest Memorial Day weekend opening, taking the spot from 2007’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” which made $153 million in its Memorial Day opening weekend.
This is the first time, in Tom Cruise’s forty-year career that he has had a film made $100 million on opening weekend.
