Donald Trump issued a statement Wednesday afternoon in which he went after establishment Republican Liz Cheney (WY) and endorsed four-term Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as a replacement for Rep. Cheney, as GOP House Conference Chair.
Trump wrote, “Liz Cheney is a warmongering fool who has no business in Republican Party Leadership. We want leaders who believe in the Make America Great Again movement and prioritize the values of America First.”
He continued, “Elise Stefanik is a far superior choice, and she has my COMPLETE and TOTAL Endorsement for GOP Conference Chair. Elise is a tough and smart communicator!”
This comes as Cheney and the president haven’t gotten along well recently, as the two have clashed over her impeachment vote as well as her disbelief in voter fraud occurring in the 2020 election.
“The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) seems to now support the movement to replace Cheney, as many other Republicans begin to turn on her for her strong anti-Trump stances.
However, at least one Republican member of Congress has signaled his support for Cheny, RINO Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), has vowed he will support Cheney to remain as House Republicans Conference Chair.
He tweeted, “Every GOP member of Congress needs to go on the record as to how they will vote on @RepLizCheney in operation #coverupJan6 and concerned donors should take notes. I will vote for Liz.”

There is certainly a divide in the Republican Party, but thankfully for Trump-supporting Republicans, it seems Cheney is on her way out of GOP House leadership and maybe even Congress.
