Video: Woman Hit By Truck Trying to Avoid Black Lives Matter Protesters Blocking Intersection in Charlottesville, VA

A woman was hit by a truck today and injured during a Black Lives Matter protest in Charlottesville, VA. According to the Charlottesville Police Department, she was an “uninvolved pedestrian.”

Black Lives Matter 757 organizer Aubrey Dwight “JaPharri” Jones, Jr., who we wrote about last year as being a violent felon, came to Charlottesville to hold the protest against “police brutality.”

The group ended up marching through the streets, eventually blocking traffic at the intersection where the incident occurred and in the video, you can hear the protesters yelling, “Who’s streets, our streets?”

Many noted that the light was red when the truck crossed, but the protesters were clearly holding up the traffic when the light was green prior.

The full video has been flagged with a sensitive content warning by Facebook and can be seen at the BlackLivesMatter757 Facebook page.

According the CPD, officers were sent to the area in response to “the protesters’ reckless and dangerous actions,” including walking in front of moving vehicles.

CPD Chief RaShall Brackney didn’t mince words in response to the protest. “We have wholeheartedly supported the numerous rallies, marches and demonstrations occurring throughout the City of Charlottesville after the death of George Floyd, however, the behaviors exhibited today do not unify the community or keep the community safe.”

It was also reported that during the protest, the Charlottesville Area Transit was forced to detour routes

Local activist Zyahna Bryant shared another video from after the incident that showed a protester, by then on the sidewalk, shouting and cursing at a CPD officer attempting to secure the scene.
