Don Lemon Gets One Last Chance, Will Return as TV Host if he Agrees to Formal Training

Don Lemon will be back on the air at CNN after his comments about presidential candidate Nikki Haley caused an on-air tiff between himself and his female co-hosts.

CNN CEO Chris Licht shared in an internal email, he had a “frank and meaningful conversation,” with Lemon. During the talk, Lemon agreed to take part in some training.

Licht added, “It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with a fostering culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes. To that end, Don will return to ‘CNN This Morning’ on Wednesday.”

Lemon went after Nikki Haley after her announcement that she was running for president. Haley in her announcement called for “new” young leadership.

“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry. A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s, and maybe 40s,” Lemon said. He then backed up his claim by telling viewers they could “google it”.

His female co-hosts didn’t seem to take kindly to his words, he got defensive telling them, “Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just saying what the facts are. Google it.”

He continued downhill adding, “Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime … and they need to be in their prime when they serve because she wouldn’t be in her prime according to… Google or whatever it is.”

Lemon has stayed on through the cuts that Licht made when he was first brought on. He was moved to a morning panel show from the primetime show he anchored alone.

From his little outburst, it appears Lemon may not be too happy with the changes he has had to make. Time will tell if he will last much longer or if they are just prolonging what many feel could be the inevitable.
