Google has finally approved former President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social on its app store.
Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunez said in a statement, “It’s been a pleasure to work with Google, and we’re glad they helped us to finally bring Truth Social to all Americans, regardless of what device they use.”
Truth Social was launched in February of this year and was available for download on the Apple App Store in the United States.
Google’s Play Store did not have it available due to “insufficient content moderation”, according to a Google spokesperson.
Google had expressed concerns that Truth Social violated the Play Store’s policies prohibiting content like “physical threats and incitement to violence”.
With the app headed to the Google Play Store, Truth Social may see a boost in users as Andriod phones make up about 40% of the U.S. smartphone market.
