GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin Signs Bill Making Masks in Schools Optional

New-elected Virgina Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed a bill that allows parents to opt their child out of mask-wearing in schools across the commonwealth.

“SIGNED… SEALED… DELIVERED

School mask mandates are officially ILLEGAL in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Thank you to Gov. @GlennYoungkin and everyone across Virginia who stood up for our children.”

With mask mandates being a controversial topic, liberal states across the country have recently been rolling back their mask mandates in schools as the 2022 midterms approach. Some leftists and CNN pundits have denied the political connection alleged by others.

Meanwhile, upon taking office, Youngkin banned mask mandates in schools though many liberal counties didn’t follow the executive order.

Just weeks after, both chambers in the legislature in Virgina passed a bill that ends mask mandates in schools after it received bipartisan support. Many Democrats supported the bill as they saw it as the correct avenue compared to an executive order.

Youngkin also said, “Today we are reestablishing and restoring power back to parents. But we are also reestablishing our expectations that we will get back to normal. And this is the path.” This bill goes into effect on Tuesday, March 1.

At the signing ceremony Wednesday, Youngkin said, “It is my distinct privilege and honor to be able to sign Senate Bill 739 into law in the Commonwealth of Virgina.” Following his remarks, he signed the bill and was met with loud applause from the crowd which had many young children who have most likely been affected by these mandates.

Youngkin also described the bill saying, “This bill is very clear. Any authority, whether it’s a local school board or a local board of supervisors or, by the way, the state government that wants to mandate masks, then parents will have the ability to opt-out if they think that’s the best thing for their child.” We will have to see if any liberal school districts continue to enforce mask mandates even after this bill has been signed into law.
