Lindsey Graham Reportedly Wanted Guns Used on January 6 Protesters According to Washington Post

A detailed report from the Washington Post was released today. The report in part showed that South Carolina U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R) yelled at Capitol police, “What are you doing? Take back the Senate! You’ve got guns, use them. We give you guns for a reason. Use them!” The report describes Graham as “irate”, for being forced to evacuate his chambers during the events on January 6th.

Senior Executive at NBCUniversal (Ret) Mike Sington shared his thoughts, “There could have been dozens of Ashli Babbitts”, then pointing to the words of Senator Graham.

“There could have been dozens of Ashli Babbitts. On January 6 Lindsey Graham called for law enforcement to shoot the rioters. He yelled at them, “Take back the Senate! You’ve got guns, use them. We give you guns for a reason. Use them!”. They didn’t, except once.”

Graham’s office has confirmed that the quote was correct. Since the events of January 6th, Graham hasn’t been shy about sharing his feelings about the use of force he wanted to see. Fox News reported, “Graham has also long slammed the storming of the Capitol, saying on Jan. 7 that “warning shots” and “lethal force should have been used once they’d penetrated the seat of government.

Even though no physical harm came to any of the Congressmen, Graham used a press conference on January 7th to share his feelings in a press conference. “They could have blown the building up. They could have killed us all,” Graham said.

January 6th brought more division between Graham and former President Trump. During his press conference, on January 7th, Graham placed some blame on Trump for the incident on January 6th saying, “Yesterday, he helped incite a mob riot.”

Kevin Bishop, Graham’s communications director, told Fox News, “Graham was quite clear on this point, noting that the backpacks and other items brought into the Capitol could have contained bombs and explosives.  The damage could have been much, much worse.”

The House formed the January 6th committee in their effort to, “Investigate the attack on the United States Capitol”. The committee is made up of 9 house members, with two Republicans and seven Democrats making up the committee. The two Republicans are Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

January 13th the house voted to impeach former President Trump over January 6th. Ten House Republicans voted to impeach the former President, including Cheney and Kinzinger. Trump has vowed to support candidates to replace all ten of them in the 2020 election. Kinzinger recently announced he will not be seeking re-election next year.

As we get closer to the end of the year, many people still await their day in court over January 6th, some of whom are still sitting in prison.
