Megyn Kelly Believes Tucker Carlson Should Reboot Career Sooner by Skipping Fox News Payout and Playing Chicken with Them in Court in Brian Stelter Quote Tweet

Speculation has grown that Tucker Carlson wants to get back in the game before the 2024 election. The New York Times reported that Carlson has expressed the desire to some of his associates. Currently, Carlson is under contract with Fox News until January 2025.

Megyn Kelly, as well as Brian Stelter have speculated as to what Fox News and Carlson may due.

Stelter shared the NYT’s article adding:

“Carlson is subject to a “pay or play” clause, which means Fox doesn’t have to “play” him on air, they just have to pay him for the remainder of his contract. That’s what the exit negotiation is about: Will Fox let him out on relatively permissive terms?”

He then pondered:

“It’s fair to wonder if Fox wants to keep Carlson on the bench, and thus off any rival outlets, while it tries to rebuild its ratings by wooing Carlson’s ticked-off fans. And it’s fair to wonder how Carlson might rebel if Fox tries to slow-walk the exit negotiations.”

Kelly quote tweeted Stelter and shared what she thinks Carlson should do:

“Tucker should walk away & forfeit the pay. Let Fox take him to court over the sole issue of silencing him for the rest of the election season (!)-the man they fired & smeared relentlessly while he stayed silent. See how their dwindling audience repays them for that.”

Kelly believes the leaked videos of Carlson have been perpetrated by Fox News’ PR Cheif Irena Briganti. Kelly added to one tweet, “if her bosses wanted it to stop, it would”.

Fox Corporation has had its lawyers issue a cease and desist letter to Media Matters which has been releasing the leaked videos. There were no leaks on Friday, the same day the letter was sent.

Carlson has been courted by many different media companies, with one offering a $100 million dollar contract. Some have also speculated that Carlson may forfeit some money for the ability to get back out there.

Many are boycotting Fox News as the way in which he was taken off the air didn’t sit well with them. Viewship of the 8 PM timeslot has tanked since it was announced that Carlson was out.

It looks like we may see more of Carlson sooner than later if he is able to make a deal with Fox News and get released early from his contract.
