Opinion: Dem Debate Shows the Party has Lurched Leftward With Pro Illegal Immigrant, Anti Worker Rhetoric

There were many instances in the Democratic presidential debate last night hosted by PBS Newshour and Politico that showed the party has adopted the values and positions of the far-left wing of the Democratic Party. When Former Vice President Biden was asked whether he would be willing to sacrifice some economic growth knowing that it could displace maybe hundreds of thousands of blue-collar workers in the interest of transitioning to that greener economy. Biden replied energetically by saying, “Yes.” This is the type of soundbite that President Trump will use during the Election season to recapture the working-class voters of the Midwest. Watch the encounter below:

In a Breitbart article, John Nolte wrote about Trump’s successes and how Biden wants to turn them around, “Trump is finally getting these guys back to work, finally turning this country and all its natural resources into an energy exporter, and this aging lunatic wants to take us back into the Dark Ages of sun and wind power, and then turn blue-collar guys into computer coders.”

Additionally, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg was asked by a moderator if the U.S. owes compensation to children separated from their families at the southern border. Buttigieg responded, “Yes, and they should have a fast track to citizenship.” This is a complete leftward turn in the Democratic Party. In 2005, then-Senator Barack Obama said, “We all agree on the need to better secure the border and punish employers who choose to hire illegal immigrants. We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States, but those who enter the country illegally and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law and they show disregard for those who are following the law.” Watch the entire speech here. This used to be the belief of most politicians and Americans, but that has changed. Now, the Democratic candidates’ proposed policies encourage illegal immigration.

Special assistant and speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan Peggy Noonan perfectly describes the state of the party in an article titled, “Crazy Won’t Beat Trump” in the Wall Street Journal. She wrote, “From their first debates in June, their major candidates announced themselves to be for sharply higher taxes, banning private health insurance, the Green New Deal, free college, complete student loan forgiveness, free health insurance for illegal aliens, and functionally open borders. They would ban fossil fuels and fracking. At least one candidate said America’s religious institutions should lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage. They are extreme on abortion—no limits, ever—and in their support of identity politics, which sees not a country but a thousand warring tribes endlessly rewarded for being at each other’s throats.” Those are many examples of the policy positions of the Democratic presidential field.

She concluded that the party’s lurch to the left has improved the president’s position in the 2020 Election. “It makes the 2020 race not ‘Trump vs. the Democrat,’ a race he can lose, but ‘Trump vs. Lefty Madness,’ which he can win.”

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had a comical tweet regarding the debate and how the world is allegedly going to end soon due to climate change. View below:

There is no sign that the Democratic Party will return to mainstream positions anytime soon. According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is now in second place nationally. As of December 20, the standing is Biden  27.8%, Sanders 19.3%, Warren 15.2%, Buttigieg 8.3%, Bloomberg 5% with the rest of the candidates at or below 3%. Examine the average of polls here
