Melissa Sue Robinson, a 70-year-old “transgender” woman, announced that “she” is running for Idaho Governor. Robinson has an unimpressive, unsuccessful political track record. Within the past 11 years, Robinson has unsuccessfully run for Nampa Mayor three times, Idaho House twice, and Idaho Senate twice. Robinson had also planned to run for Nampa City Council in 2019 before withdrawing.

Robinson’s candidacy is unique in that “she” is the first transgender to run for governor of Idaho. Robinson legally changed “her” name from Chuck Staelens in 1998 and had a sex-change operation a year later. As a self-proclaimed male, Stalens was a very successful citizen, working as president of a construction and home improvement company. For a short while, after Staelens underwent the sex-change operation, “her” ex-wife, Linda was devastated. However, surprisingly enough, they are now close friends and Linda will be the campaign manager for Robinson.
Robinson believes that “her” work at the organization that she started, the National Association for the Advancement of Transgender People, could greatly expand if “she” was governor and would greatly benefit LGBTQ people.
Robinson said that she’s running to save the education system in Idaho and fight what she claims to be is fascism, “brought forward by Lt Governor, Janice McGeachin, Rep. Barbara Ehardt, The Idaho Freedom Foundation, Wayne Hoffman, and other far-right-wing Republicans.” Robinson says, “A vote for Robinson will be a vote for democracy, equality, diversity, and the US constitution.”
The Idaho gubernatorial race is heating up with a large field of candidates. In controversial news last week, anti-government activist, Ammon Bundy announced his intentions to run for governor last week. Ammon is the son of Cliven Bundy, a prominent figure in the 2014 Bundy Standoff. We reported on Bundy last week:
Shortly after the announcement, the Idaho Republican Party Chairman Tom Luna released a statement laying out several reasons why “Ammon Bundy is not suited to call himself an Idaho Republican let alone run for Governor of our great state.” The statement goes on to say that Bundy, “openly supports defunding the police, and has known alliances with the radical factions of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement,” making it clear that the Idaho GOP has no interest in being associated with him.
Ed Humphreys, a pro-Trump, America First proponent threw his hat in the gubernatorial race last month. More on Humphreys’ campaign was detailed on Media Right News in May: “Ed will be running alongside a handful of other Republicans including the current and popular Lieutenant Governor, Janice McGeachin, in an attempt to primary and replace the current GOP Governor, Brad Little. Little has given many Idahoans the impression that he falls under the category of “RINO”, and in a red state like Idaho, could be doing much more to represent the voters.”
