Trump Shuts Down Personal Blog, New Social Media Platform Could Be Imminent

Former President Donald Trump’s blog was removed from his website this morning. Trump seemingly used that part of his website to serve as an alternative to Twitter (which he was banned from). The website page, titled “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump”, was filled with official statements from the President, similar in length to tweets.

While, Jason Miller, a Senior Advisor to President Trump, announced that his statement page was being removed from the website, all previous statements can be viewed in the “News” section of the website. Miller told CNBC that the webpage, “will not be returning” due to the fact that, “it was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on.” Miller did not provide any more detail. In early May, the website began producing Trump’s statements.

Amy Tarkanian, a Conservative political commentator, skepticized that this action meant that Trump would be announcing his new social media platform soon. Jason Miller confirmed that this action was carried out in preparation for a potentially huge announcement.

After Trump’s permanent bans from Facebook and Twitter in the wake of the January 6th protest, Trump had to communicate with his supporters through his website. Back in March, Jason Miller hinted at Trump creating a new social media platform for himself: “I do think that we’re going to see President Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months here, with his own platform. And this is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media, it’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does.” If Miller’s estimated timeline proves to be accurate, Trump should be on track to roll out his new platform soon.
