Washed Up Has Been Singer Richard Marx Issues Support for Rand Paul’s Neighbor Who Previously Assaulted Him

On Monday, May 24th, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) received a large envelope filled with white powder at the doorstep of his house in Kentucky. The FBI and Capitol Hill police are investigating this incident in an attempt to discover who put the package there. The outside of the envelope had a picture of the senator bandaged, donning a neck brace, holding a crutch, and has an image of a rifle pointed at his head. Underneath the image is a quote reading: “I’LL FINISH WHAT YOUR NEIGHBOR STARTED, YOU M**********R”.

This threat references an event in 2017 in which Sen. Paul was assaulted by his neighbor, Rene Boucher. Paul was mowing his lawn on a Friday afternoon when Boucher tackled him from behind and pummeled the senator into the ground. Paul ended up breaking six ribs and bruised his lungs from this event.

After this recent threat involving the package, Senator Paul released a statement accusing Richard Marx of being the culprit. Paul said, “I take these threats immensely seriously. As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family. Just this weekend Richard Marx called for violence against me and now we receive this powder-filled letter.”

Marx authored a tweet praising Paul’s 2017 aggressor, Boucher, saying “If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.”

This tweet was coincidentally posted a mere 24 hours before Paul received the suspicious package. Marx has denied any involvement in the package incident. The singer has continued to tweet out rants directed at Senator Paul and various conservative Twitter accounts. Marx’s recent tweets have described conservatives or Trump supporters as “moron[s]“, “bigoted, mouth-breathing goons“, and “nameless, faceless [and] gutless”.

The FBI is continuing their investigation and told Fox News that they are, “working with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Capitol Police by providing forensic and technical assistance.”
