Alec Baldwin is off the Hook for Shooting ‘Rust’ Director Joel Souza, as no Official Charges Come

The Santa Fe District Attorney’s office told TMZ they wouldn’t charge Alec Baldwin for shooting “Rust” director Joel Souza.

Souza was struck with the same bullet that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The Santa Fe D.A. announced Baldwin would be charged with involuntary manslaughter in her death.

The D.A. explained if there were a charge it would be, an “unintentional battery” however that doesn’t exist as the battery requires intent. Baldwin had no intention of hurting anyone but was reckless.

Baldwin has maintained that he never pulled the trigger, however, the FBI insists that in order for the revolver to fire the trigger had to have been pulled.

Formal charges are expected by the end of the month.

We will see what happens in the next few months.

  1. There is one word that will describe what will happen to Alec Baldwin: nothing.

  2. “Baldwin has maintained that he never pulled the trigger, however, the FBI insists that in order for the revolver to fire the trigger had to have been pulled.” DUH. That’s actually why it’s called a “trigger.” See? Guns DON’T kill people…people (like Baldwin) kill people

    1. That’s not remotely the point. Why was he given a “live” firearm? There is a Props person whose job it is to prevent things like this from happening. Why was Baldwin given a firearm capable of firing a real round? A replica gun could be manufactured that emits a muzzle flash, and the sound is usually added afterward. Think of a BBQ lighter. It has a trigger, and a flame is kindled at the end of the “barrel,” which then lights your grill.
Some wizard could figure that out in no time.

  3. While I think that Baldwin is at fault here AND violated several gun safety protocols, I would like to point out one fact; If the pistol was an old west style revolver and was in the half-cocked position, it is possible to fire without pulling the trigger. This happened enough in the old west that it generated the phrase, “going off half-cocked.” It also led to Sheriff Fred White being accidently killed by Curly Bill Brocius in Tombstone in the 1880’s. Really unsafe way to handle a firearm.
